A project that could see the construction of 21 residential units and more than 10,000 square feet of commercial space is under consideration for Albuquerque’s North Valley.
What is being called the Orchard on the Alameda would go up on a 4.3-acre site in a mostly residential section at the northeast corner of Rio Grande Boulevard and Alameda Boulevard and would emphasize walkable space in a village-like setting. Developer of the project is the Santa Fe-based Zydeco 66. That company is currently spearheading the construction of the Zocalo Lofts, a $4.5 million mixed-use project in Albuquerque’s historic Barelas neighborhood. As envisioned, the Orchard on the Alameda will house retail space in nine separate buildings varying in size from 850 to 6,300 square feet. Two of those structures will have second floors. The project will additionally include loft condominiums, with private road access to the residential units on the north side of the site. Zydeco 66, a real estate management, investment and development company, plans to next undertake a feasibility study before submitting plans for the Orchard on the Alameda to Bernalillo County.
