A city located 7 miles northeast of Denver that has experienced unprecedented industrial development growth in the last two decades may soon be seeing yet more construction. The Denver-based Hampton Yards LLC has announced that it is purchasing a 26.6-acre site located at 9975 104th Avenue in an area that is zoned industrial. The company purchased the property for $8 million from the Houston-based oilfield services Schlumberger Limited. That site, situated between Interstate 76 and Colorado State Highway 85, is already the home to four industrial warehouse-type structures. But sources familiar with the purchase say the undeveloped portions of the property could easily see the future construction of more warehouse and manufacturing space, or an additional storage yard and large truck parking lot. Commerce City has made itself attractive to businesses across the country who have set up headquarters or regional locations in the city of around 60,000 residents, placing a particular emphasis on advanced manufacturing, and logistics and distribution, companies.
