![]() Plans to build a new headquarters for a Colorado metal roofing business have been approved in the city of Black Forest. Members of the El Paso County Commission have given their approval to a rezoning request for a 4.7-acre site that will see the construction of an 8,800 square foot, two-story structure. The building will belong to the Colorado Springs-based S-5!, which specializes in metal roofing and clamps, and will go up at the intersection of Shoup Road and Black Forest Road in a part of the city made up of small businesses and residential properties. As planned, the structure, as designed by the Denver-based PWN Architects and Planners, will mostly house offices, and will be built with logs, moss rocks, and natural stones in order to blend in with the natural surroundings. An existing 3,200 square foot barn structure at the site will be repurposed and used as auxiliary office and studio space. A city known for its abundance of Ponderosa Pines, Black Forest is also populated with commercial and residential structures made of pine. By Garry Boulard
