A nearly 75,000-square-foot building that until recently housed the printing operations of the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper is set to go to auction in late October. Located at 825 W. 6th Street, the three-story building was constructed in 1960 and sits on a 4.6-acre site in downtown Pueblo. The commercial printing services for the Chieftain were ended in the summer of 2023, with parent company Gannett Incorporated listing the property for sale several weeks later. The decision to cease the newspaper’s location printing operation came as Gannett announced plans to outsource that work to the Denver Post. The oldest newspaper in Colorado and one of the oldest papers in the entire West, the Chieftain was founded in 1868 and purchased by GateHouse Media in 2018, before that company a year later acquired Gannett. The paper’s former printing facilities include a front lobby, spacious warehouse and workspace, two dock doors, and three drive-in doors. The building was substantially renovated in 1974. Offered by the listing agent BellCornerstone of Manlius, New York, the building’s two-day auction is set to begin on October 21, with a starting bid of $500,000. By Garry Boulard
